Fowler's Positioning

Positioning the Patient: Patient is positioned in a sitting position with the head of the bed/table elevated between 45° and 60°. Head is neutral and aligned with spine. Arms are flexed at the elbow and secured either across the body or on armboards at patient’s sides. Knees are flexed slightly.
Pressure Concerns: Occiput, scapulae, ischial tuberosities, thoracic vertebrae, olecranon processes, sacrum, coccyx, popliteal area, calcanei
Common Surgical Procedures: Posterior and lateral head, dental, nasopharyngeal, shoulder, posterior cervical spine, breast
