This set of cards was developed for those who have difficulty initiating, formulating, and continuing conversations. Included are nine Target Areas of tasks that promote topic initiation, maintenance and turn taking in areas needed for meaningful social exchanges. Examples include:
• Start a conversation with an older person about life in the 1960s
• You are at a bank asking about a loan
• Respond to someone who says “I’m exhausted caring for everybody at my house.”
These tasks help clients become partners in conversational exchanges that carry over outside the treatment environment.
Set contains 80 cards, including 3 Words to Start Questions cards, suggestions for use, and a storage box.
May also be used in language, aphasia, stroke, retraining, cognition, apraxia/dysarthria, and memory therapy.
