What is Protecta-Coat?

Protecta-Coat positioners feature a fluid-proof, vinyl-coated antimicrobial foam designed for imaging and surgery. Recommended for shorter-duration surgical/interventional procedures as well as MRI and imaging procedures.

What is InvisiCoat and how is it different?

InvisiCoat positioners feature award-winning curved-edge construction specifically designed for imaging applications. The curved edges reduce artifacts and lines for cleaner, clearer images—unlike conventional positioners with perpendicular sides that create wide witness lines. InvisiCoat also features the same seamless antimicrobial coating that's fluid-proof and easy to clean.

What is InvisiCoat Plus?

InvisiCoat Plus is a higher-density version of our InvisiCoat positioners, specifically designed to help prevent bottoming out with bariatric patients. It provides the same artifact-reducing curved-edge design and antimicrobial coating with enhanced support for larger patients.

Are these positioners radiolucent?

Yes, both Protecta-Coat and InvisiCoat positioners are radiolucent. When tested at low attenuation of 80 kVp, results indicate an aluminum equivalency of 1%. Note: Procedures at less than 60 kVp may produce slightly visible lines on edges of Protecta-Coat positioners—always position the patient so that the edge of the block will not be in the image field of concern.

What procedures are these positioners used for?

Protecta-Coat and InvisiCoat positioners are designed for a wide range of imaging and surgical procedures including MRI, CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy, and shorter-duration surgical and interventional procedures. The variety of shapes—wedges, rolls, rectangles, head supports, and knee bolsters—accommodate virtually any patient positioning requirement.

How do I clean these positioners?

The seamless vinyl coating makes cleaning easy—simply wipe down with hospital-approved disinfectants. The coating is impervious to fluids, preventing absorption and contamination. The embedded ionic silver provides continuous antimicrobial protection between cleanings.

What shapes and sizes are available?

Over 30 sizes, shapes, and styles are available including: Head Donuts, Skull Blocks, Head and Neck Supports, Occipital Supports, Rectangles (X-Small to Large), Wedges (15°, 20°, 35°/55°, and 45°), Knee Bolsters, Rolls, Ulnar Pads, Intubation Wedges, and Female Prone Positioners.
