AliMed^® Stroke Wheelchair Cushion

AliMed® Stroke Wheelchair Cushion meets the wheelchair positioning needs of stroke patients. The convex-bottom, closed-cell foam solid seat base fills a wheelchair's sagging sling seat, creating a stable, flat sitting surface that promotes an upright sitting posture without raising the seat height. Low-profile cushion allows the user's legs to reach the floor to self-propel the wheelchair. T-Gel™ insert at the rear of the SSI offers coccyx protection and reduces skin shear for a gradual pressure transition between the firmness of the SSI and the soft, pressure-relieving gel. Front waterfall edge reduces pressure at distal edges of thighs. For added protection, the T-Foam™ (memory foam) model has an extra 1"H layer of slow recovery Medium T-Foam on top of the SSI for additional comfort and pressure distribution. Available with or without T-Foam in two widths: 16" and 18".

About AliMed® Solid Seat Insert™ (SSI): this innovative design solves the problem of “sling-seat sag” by creating a flat, level sitting surface that can accommodate any positioning or pressure-relief cushion without buckling, helping to prevent sacral sitting and discourage side-to-side tilt for improved postural support, pelvic balance, and even weight distribution. Unlike boards commonly used to bridge sagging seat cavities that can raise the user too high and cause instability, the SSI’s semirigid, all-in-one foam block with flat top and convex base effectively fills this cavity to achieve a flat sitting surface while maintaining a proper height, allowing the user to sit securely while keeping their feet properly positioned on foot supports or the floor.
