Darco® Wound Care Shoe System has a unique insole layering system recommended for the treatment of foot problems where it is desirable to redistribute weight away from specific areas. The shoe offers a proven, economical ulcer management protocol for healing both weight-bearing and non-weight bearing ulcers.
Carefully fit the shoe so that the metatarsal heads are just in front of the rocker apex. The instructions for locating and unloading a particular area must be followed carefully. These instructions involve:
- The grade of the ulcer (on the Wagner scale)
- The size and shape of the unloaded area
- The specific positioning of the four layers of insole materials before and after the ulcer closes
