Massachusetts Legislative Caucus honors 53 local manufacturers in State House ceremony

AliMed, Inc., a Dedham, Mass.-based medical supply manufacturer, announced today it is the recipient of a Manufacturer of the Year Award presented by the Massachusetts Legislative Caucus in a ceremony held at the State House on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Nominated by Rep. Paul McMurtry (D-Dedham), AliMed was one of 53 local manufacturers honored for innovative and revolutionary manufacturing capabilities and products.

“We are honored to receive this award, especially at a time when much of today’s manufacturing capabilities are outsourced,” said Sam Foster, CEO of AliMed. “We are proud to have been able to successfully sustain our operations here in Dedham where we have been a part of this community—and one of its largest employers—for more than 30 years. AliMed looks forward to continuing our long tradition of developing innovative and quality healthcare products designed to improve patient care and support positive outcomes.”

Formed in August 2014, the Manufacturing Caucus includes over 60 legislators statewide focused on training for manufacturing employees, encouraging innovation, and expanding apprenticeship opportunities in key manufacturing sectors.

“The manufacturers recognized represent the lifeblood of Massachusetts’ economy,” said House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo (D-Winthrop) at the ceremony. “They’ve demonstrated that it’s possible to be an enduring force in their local communities while working to ensure that manufacturing is a responsive, inclusive, and dynamic sector.”
