If durability is paramount, Rhino Board is a strong and durable option that resists chipping or cracking. Rhino Board is manufactured from the same super-strong polymers frequently used to secure professional hockey-rink walls. Compared to carbon fiber, this high-strength material won't crack under stress of repeated use. The self-healing properties of Rhino Board prevent bacteria from getting trapped under the surface, making it a safe, reliable material for medical use. And with 3/4"-thick hand tables available, Rhino Board offers radiolucency equal to less than 1 mm aluminum equivalency.
If weight is important, Phenolic is a lightweight, cost-effective alternative. A matrix of thin, paper-like layers are formed under high pressure to create a strong, industrial-strength laminated plastic. Phenolic is up to 30% lighter than its Rhino Board counterpart, which makes it easier to use, store, and transport. These hand tables measure 3/8" thick and provide the best rigidity for artifact-free imaging with reduced wobble and vibrations. Compared to Rhino Board, Phenolic tables offer slightly better radiolucency with 0.5 mm aluminum equivalency.
